» Link maker, my last anti-project

It happend to me many times that when I wanted to download something big with my rapidshate account that the links sites have urls in plain text instead of html links and if I want to download it I have to copy one by one… To avoid that I created Link maker, a very basic “service” that transforms urls into links. It seams stupid but tourned out to be very usefull for some of my friends.

» Jon ‘Maddog’ Hall Impersonated Mark Shuttleworth in a Parody

The last three days I have been working in the Ubuntu-ar stand and helping the organization in the 8th Jornadas Regionales de Software Libre in Buenos Aires. Mark Shuttleworth confirmed his assistance as a keynote speaker but at last minute he canceled. So Jhon ‘Maddog’ Hall president of Linux International gave a talk as if he where Mark about how to make money with free software.

When he entered the room the “2001: a space odissey” music sounded the lights where off and then he suddenly appears in the stage. It was SO funny!

This are the pictures of his talk.

We have all signed “marks” attendance certificate and will give it to him.

You can see all the other pictures here

» 8th Jornadas Regionales de Software Libre

I will be helping with the ubuntu-ar stand at the 8vas Jornadas Regionales de Software Libre in Buenos Aires, , and maybe (if they are approved) giving a couple of talks.

What is “Jornadas Regionales de Software Libre”?

JSRL is a regional, international & roving event where many people work to integrate proyects, launch new ideas and overcome the hurdles of the software they use.

2008 will be the 8th. edition of the event that already was held at Argentina and Uruguay. For the 2009 edition Chile is planning to host it.

During the event programmers, developers, strategists, technology experts and entrepeneurs involved with Free software will meet to exchange ideas, share techniques, discuss and explore free technologies such as Perl, MySQL, JAVA, PHP, Python, Linux, Apache and many more.

Who hosts this year’s?

The organization of the workshop this year (2008) rests upon CaFeLUG, Capital Federal Free Software Users Group and has the support and participation of organizations alike. Since its beginnings, back to 2000, CaFeLUG has been building up a thriving task force of Free Software philosophy advocates, being one of the most numerous and active groups of the country.

CaFeLUG does regular work activities, among whose you can find monthly meetings, Charlas Técnicas Trimestrales (Quarterly Technical Speeches) and its Conferencia Anual (Anual Conference), CaFeCONF.

Who are the spetial guests this year?

  • Mark Shuttleworth
  • Chris Hoffman
  • Rik van Riel
  • Jon ‘maddog’ Hall
  • Christoph Hellwig
  • Dag Wieers

If you would like to attend you can find some usefull information here
